The ancient and renowned temple known as Kerala pazhani is situated in cherpu west of Trichur. Subrahamanya swami is deity facing east and besides his ardent devotee Hidymban Swamy is seen. Sub Deity Ganapathy's idol is also there behind the Subramanya shrine facing east.
The legend behind the temple is that when Sage Pooru visited Pazhany he had a vision of Subramanya Swamy who told him that he woul appear at Peruvanam temple. After some days an unknown child was seen in the northwestern side of the temple. The child dug with the spear and diggen place later become the temple pond and Subramanya Swamy was installed in the place where the boy Was seen.
